Palestinians in Lebanon are refugees since they were expelled from their homeland during the creation of Israel in 1948. They have experienced many challenges and traumatic experiences. Not having a homeland, basic civil rights or ability to plan and build their future. They live in extreme poverty.

Palestinians in Lebanon are devastated by what is going on in Gaza. They feel helpless watching the news and not being able to do anything.  They watch civilians - women, men, children - being killed. Not just by bombing but people not getting medical care, clean water, food and other basic necessities.

In the helpless situation children can share their experiences in form of stories. Having an adult listen and hear their experiences. Telling and listening to stories is an important part of childhood and adulthood.  Storycrafting is one way of producing stories by giving the children the possibility to express themselves.

The storycrafting method allows the storyteller to tell their story freely. Child tells their thoughts and experiences in the form of a story. An adult listener writes the story as the child tells it. After the story has been told and written the listener reads it back to the child. If the child wants to change something it is changed.

The stories that are shared in this blog  have been crafted by Jamal Abu Saleh in Beirut, Lebanon. The children and their parents have given permission to share their stories.
